Just out of curiousity I have been watching business sales diminish the last 3 months. Everyone I talk to especially small business owners say how bad their sales are down. With the credit crunch in the housing sector, the diminsh sales, and the increasing inflation where do you see our economy in 2008?

Although things have droped signifigantly, I really don’t see much of a long term effect, maybe another 3 months tops. The market has started to level off again, and it’s still up around 7% since last year. How often your heart beats is a great measure of fitness and it needs to be accurately measured if you want to see your fitness improve.  The areas you really want to measure and improve in are your heart rate at rest and the speed with which it recovers from sustained activity.  A well conditioned ticker can pump less to get your body the O2 that it needs. Two of the best fitness measurements are the speed of recovery from effort and your resting pulse.

More exercise translates to a stronger pump. There are two types of workouts: aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic training is what is required to improve your fitness because you are using many muscle groups for a long period of time at a steady pace. An anaerobic workout consists of small groups of your body’s muscles being used over a short period of time at a high level of exertion.

In either type of workout your muscles will demand oxygen. The harder you workout the more oxygen your muscles require. The heart pumps faster during a workout in an effort to deliver the additional oxygen that your muscles demand.

Measuring your heart rate using a heart rate monitor watch is the best way to gauge the effectiveness of your workout. Having good accurate measurements of your body’s engine is critical to getting the most out of your exercise. 

A heart rate monitor watch provides you with several key pieces of data you must have to improve.

Resting heart rate

Resting beats per minute equals the number of heart beats achieved in one minute of inactivity. A quiet period of inactivity or meditation at any point during the day will achieve a similar effect.

Measure this when you have been at rest and are feeling no outside stresses. Guys will be around 60 to 80 beats, however it is quite normal to see serious athletes with a resting pulse rate in the 40′s. A highly trained athlete can have beats per minute in the 40′s at rest. We are after gradually measuring improvement and resting heart rate can tell you whether to go easy or hard on a given day depending upon your recovery.

Peak or max heart rate

The maximum is an important number, but not to measure, as it represents the maximum amount of time in a minute your heart can beat. The maximum heart rate should not be attempted but rather calculated using the following formula. the fitness community has developed a baseline formula to measure your maximum heart rate.

Subtract your age from the number 220. So, a 50 year old would have a maximum heart rate of 170. While this formula is not perfectly precise it beats running the risks of hurting yourself because actually achieving your maximum heart rate can be dangerous.

Zone range heart rate

Your training heart rate is the range of heart rate that you maintain during aerobic workouts in an effort to improve fitness. A heart rate monitor watch with beeper alarms is really good for this because it alerts you when you have gone outside your zone range of 50% to 80% of max heart rate. The bands of this range can be limited further to meet the specific needs of each individual for where they are within their exercise program – from begginer to professional.

If you are just getting started with your exercise program that 50% to 60% of your max heart rate is fine to start building a base. As your fitness improves try to stay between 60% and 70% and top caliber athletes can even consider 70% to 80% of max heart rate. I call it the electronic whip because it crack the whip if you are slacking and tells you to back off if you are going too hard but it is an extremely effective way to bracket your workouts so you achieve maximum benefit.

Exceptionally fit athletes will operate at 70 to 80 percent for long periods of time but if you aren’t Lance Armstrong yet than stick to the lower ranges. Years of time are needed to build the type of base that it takes to operate at this level of output and those who work out at this level already likely have low resting heart rates and quick recovery times.

Recovery heart rate

How quickly does your heart rate drop when you have completed a prolonged period of exercise? This best explains the concept of recovery heart rate. Use your heart rate monitor watch to measure your heart rate before beginning your workout. When you have been working out for 20 minutes or longer stop and see how fast you can recover to 20 beats per minute greater than your pre-workout heart rate.

What you will notice is that as your fitness improves your heart will recover more quickly from a sustained effort. A lot of times if you are not recovering well you may need a rest day. If your heart rate was 70 beats per minute before your workout than take several breaks and see how long it takes to recover to 90 beats per minute. Once you recover to 90 then resume your workout and repeat this process several times.

How heart rate watches help

Using a heart rate monitor is very simple. Heart rate monitor watches come in dozens of shapes, sizes and features. Just like an electrocardiogram (ECG) the transmitter detects electrical activity. This activity is relayed by a cord connected to a wristwatch with a graphic display.

I bought one in Tchibo and it seems pretty accurate, it matched the info on the treadmill based ones at the gym. They have a chest belt that you wear with it which picks up the info and transmits it to the watch. If you can get one in Tchibo they are very reasonably priced ( less than £20 I think) but don’t come around very often.

A woman who’s lukewarm under the sheets, or downright disinterested and dismissive, can’t deny that much of her bedroom behaviors could be driving an otherwise loving husband into somebody’s else arms. Maybe even permanently!

Wake up girls! Watch what’s starting the cheating process.

First of all, most men really don’t understand much about the women in their beds. Interviews across the country have revealed that many women are sexually unfulfilled, frustrated, and confused … not by men, but by their own lack of understanding about their own bodies.

Sadly, most of us learned about sex in the 7th grade locker room from our best friends, or, of course, in those sex ed classes where adults filled us with fear that having sex either led to getting a baby or getting a disease. The message either way: You just weren’t supposed to do it!

We were certainly never taught much about the intricacies of our own bodies. We were never taught about finding pleasure or sexual satisfaction. There was certainly no talk about proper body parts. Boys, we learned, had penises and girls had vaginas. As if that was the end of it. The assumption was that we were supposed to figure it out once we were married or at least in a committed relationship. Well, sadly enough, many women never did figure “it” out. And as a result, many are missing out on the wonders of great sex and may be inadvertently causing much of the sexual dissatisfaction and male/female communication problems going on out there.

This lack of understanding of their own bodies has led many women to short-changing themselves in the sexual department. While women initially may have been willing sex partners with their mates, if they didn’t know how to achieve their own satisfaction, much less explain their needs to their partner, the end result could be one happy man (who blissfully falls asleep right afterwards) and one less-than-smiling (and disillusioned) woman.

Unfortunately, as Meg Ryan so aptly showed us years ago in When Harry Met Sally, a good woman can fake her satisfaction well enough to leave any man thinking he’s a stud and believing that she’ll be excited about a repeat performance — when in fact many women just can’t wait for lovemaking to be over.

These women naturally pull away from their men. Who wants night after night of disappointment and play-acting? And whether the disappointment is subtle or obvious, the men notice. And then THEY pull away from their women.

Of course for women who used sex as a means to capture a man, then once hooked, turn cold in the sex department, they only have themselves to blame if their men quit being interested and end up coming home late more and more often, probably finding comfort elsewhere.

But we have to ask: Are men at all responsible in this complex puzzle?

Here are some interesting points:

* The biggest thing that men do wrong is to assume they understand women. The truth is, even if a man has a fabulous sexual relationship with one gal, the next one can be so very different that all bets are off that her needs will even remotely be the same.

* The differences between women are huge. And assuming that they are all alike can be the kiss of death — even for a well-intentioned guy who has put some time into studying the fairer sex.

* Both men and women need a re-education about sex, and should spend time learning about each others’ anatomy, desires, fantasies, sensations, and the intricacies of what makes each of us tick.

* Porn sites and sex films (which are mostly written and directed by men) do NOT educate anyone accurately. They’re the basis of some of our biggest and most harmful sex myths.

* Research shows that guys think about sex in some fashion about every 52 seconds. Women do so about once a day. Another difference between the genders!

* Men want to feel validated as men, and sex helps them do that. Women want to feel loved and needed and cherished. And — surprise! — lovemaking helps them feel that.

* When things get out of whack in the bedroom, it definitely spills over into the rest of the relationship.

* Not every couple needs a sex therapist. But every man and woman needs to take steps towards better understanding about the opposite sex and themselves.

* Until women do a better job of understanding their own bodies, communicating their needs to their lovers, and embracing the fact that sex is a fabulous gift that we as humans are blessed with — and NOT a chore — our bedroom issues will only continue. And so will cheating, divorce, and heartache.

Do you think the jury will believe casey anthony was molested?

Its becoming very clear Casey Anthony is going to claim she was raped and molested and that led her to kill her kid. Apparent rape victims are very hard to convict so I am of the belief she will be freed. Psychologists will talk about post traumatic stress disorder etc and woman jurors particularly will buy into this as well as many men who have been affected by this horrible tragedy of an event. I am of the solid belief this is her defense strategy after watching a little jury selection after work today. What do you think?

she wasn’t stressed/depressed or anything otherwise when her daughter was “missing” and she was out having a good time partying,drinking,dancing etc…
horrible things happen to people everyday,but that is no excuse for harming in any way shape or form another person/child.and if the case were that rape/molestation victims were freed due to circumstances then why have a justice system.yes,that may be the case,but hopefully,that will not be applied in this case.I feel very strongly about cases like this (being a mother myself)
